My Bachelorette Party in Tejas

And my final party was here in Big D. My very good friend Monique offered to help Morgs out with this one. Monique did an amazing job and I had a great time, especially with the outfit I had to wear. It was a shirt with different things I had to do and people had to sign that indeed these things were done.
I loved this party because my family ended up trying to get me drunk--thanks guys. But they succeeded and I don't think I've ever been that intoxicated in public before.
We started off going to La Bare (male strip club) which was hilarious and the only other people there were other bachelorette parties. Then we met my brother and sister-in-law at a bar. After a few shots apparently the bartender cut me off. I guess I forgot or I was trying to be sneaky but I kept going back to ask for more shots. I'm retarded.......

Morgs and Monique with the bachelorette party attendees' masks

We stopped at a convenience store after La Bare so I could use the restroom and ended up befriending the clerks behind the counter. They loved my shirt and ended up signing it. Nevertheless, we were there awhile.

Morgs and my lil' sis, Tamarah

I got hungry and decided to buy a little snack. Someone left me alone with the money. I think I was having a hard time counting......

Me and my sister-in-law, Becky. I like how I had the pen ready to go at the top of my shirt--you never know when a signing might take place!

My brother, David, and Tam hanging out.

This is me right after my sis Tam shoved yet another shot down my throat. Man I look awesome........

A few shots later with Becky, David and Tam

Apparently throughout the night my family said they would lose me and then find me trying to get people to sign my shirt. At one point they said I was holding the shirt for someone to sign and no one was there. Time to go home.....

Right before we left when I was forced to sit down. Sweet smile!!

My Bachelorette Party in KY

Well, since I'm on a roll of giving the background of Vincent and I's relationship, why not keep it going till present? So the best part or should I say par-TAY of getting married? The bachelorette party, of course!
My best friend from college and future Texas resident (crossing my fingers), Morgan, was my maid of honor. I know, I know, I have 2 sisters and why weren't they my maids of honor?? Well, I thought it was kinda gay to have 2 maids of honor and I didn't want to choose just one so I just made them bridesmaids (with special dresses). Plus my sisters did not want to have to plan my bachelorette party and since that's pretty much the only job of the maid of honor, I gave it to Morgan. And if you know Morgan, she's an amazing event planner. She decided to have a bachelorette party up in KY with my friends and sorority sisters and then one in Tejas with my fam and friends. She rocks!! And she did a fabulous job! Here are some pics........(maybe too many but I wanted to recognize her for doing so much for me---you're the best Morgs!!!)

The most beautiful host of the pre-party: Amanda

Though Jake and I have a rocky relationship, he is the creator of my very own bachelorette shirt. Front: "Buy me a shot, I'm tying the knot", Back: "Future Husband Beater" Awesome Job!

My favorite guy in KY--Bling!! He is always there for me even when it means showing up at an all girls party just to support me!!

This was called an upside down margarita. Obviously, from my face -delicious.

Bling again--love you!!!

The lovely Jessica, a.k.a. "Hips". If you've ever seen her move her hips, you would understand!

Bling!

Good times with Hips, Bling, Morgs, and Morgs' best friend!

The gang, again.

The morning after with Morgs on the Ohio River.

When I Said Yes.....

So I am copying and pasting from Vincent's myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/vincentmartinez) for 2 reasons. One, I am too lazy to try and capture the moment of that day again. Two, I wrote that excerpt fairly soon after we got engaged so I remembered details that I might not remember today. Here it is.

After a 13 hour drive up to Kentucky with Vincent, God bless him, I wanted to kill him. We got to Morgan's (my best friend from college) and we were still snapping at each other. The next morning Vincent, Morgan, and her boyfriend Jake all left me in bed (which was fine by me) without a clue to where they were going. When they got back home I was told that Morgan and Jake helped Vincent plan a surprise romantic dinner to ease the tension between us. Later that afternoon Vincent told me to get dressed up and fast. He made this clear by repeating "Hurry up" over and over again. Good thing that wasn't annoying. We left and arrived in the parking garage of the unknown dinner destination. As we got out of the car Vincent realized he had lost his wallet once again (this was the second time in a matter of a couple of days). I proceeded to watch him throw a tantrum of some sort and then demand that we go back to the house and check for it. On our way I called Morgan to let her know of the situation and she told me to go ahead and pay for the dinner and that she and Jake would check for the wallet. We got back to the mystery restaurant, this time determined to start over. Vincent did good too. He tried to not think about it as we walked into The Old Spaghetti Factory. The food was amazing. The atmosphere there would've put anyone in a good mood. After we sat down, Morgan called to say that she had found the wallet. This put Vincent at ease. During dinner Vincent had told me that he was planning on taking me on the horse and carriage ride that started just outside the restaurant. Well, since I'm not shy about eating, I proceeded to fill my belly well beyond the need and then became tired---very quickly. We went back to the car to put our stuff up and by the time we came back to the horse and carriage ride, a rather large line had formed. I became uninterested in the ride almost immediately. Vincent felt the same. We went back to the car and started the drive back home. Vincent then said he wanted to take me to this place that Morgan had showed him earlier that day. I told him that I would rather go home. He begged me to at least look at it. I told him that if I couldn't see if from the car, then I wanted to go home and go to bed. He said it would only take a minute and I told him that it better or I would drive myself home without him. I grunted and got out of the car. As we rounded the corner of a building I was surprised at what I found. There was a beautiful reflection pool that had stepping stones leading to a giant stepping stone in the middle.Pouring into the pool was a huge waterfall. On either side of the waterfall were stairs leading to an overlook of the river (Ohio River). Seriously, great place. Well,we go out onto the rock in the middle and I sit down and put my feet in the water. There were couples all around. At this very moment, 3 teenage girls decide to run into the pool, fully clothed and stand under the waterfall. A teenage boy followed them around, taking pictures. It went on for about 15 minutes, while Vincent paced behind me. When they finally left, most of the couples had left as well. Vincent asked me if I wanted to go look at the river. I agreed and stood up. As I turned to walk away, Vincent asked me for a hug. Confused, I gave him a hug and started to pull away. He wouldn't let go.Right then, he started giggling. He wouldn't stop. I knew then what was about to happen. He pulled me away, looked at me, giggled, pulled me back. This cycle repeated several times before he said "Umm, I had a speech...." More giggles and hugs. Then he pulled me away again and said "Do you want to go home and go to bed now?"He nervously giggled and pulled me back to him again. I was so confused and scared that he was backing out.I asked "What is going on?" He then said "I can't seem to talk." More giggling, followed by pulling and pushing of me. Finally, he pushed me away and slowly made his way to the ground. He muttered "Crap, I forgot the ring", stood back up, got the ring out of his pocket and slowly went down again. He then asked "Carmelle, will you marry me?" I stood staring at the ring, forgetting to answer. Finally he screamed "Say yes, say yes!!" I was like "Of course!" He stood up, hugged me, and said "Babe I really botched that one up, didn't I?"

The Story of Us

So I wanted to tell everyone how Vincent and I met. I was working at Bank of Texas right when I got back from graduating school in Kentucky. I've never had a more terrible job but my parents gave me a deadline for finding a job so I just settled for this one. But I met this hilarious guy that worked there named Jeremy Yates. We quickly became good friends. Well a few months into work he tells me that one of his friends from high school was getting a job there as well. Jeremy said that I might think this guy was cute because most women did. Jeremy also told me that he'd be at this stupid meeting that I'd been trying to avoid for months but was being forced to go to.
Well the day of the meeting arrives and of course I'm late. I'm always late anyway but that job gave me extra motivation to be late because I hated it so much. After I walk in a good half hour late and the instructor gives me the third degree, I sit in the first available open seat. The meeting was supposed to last like 4 hours with breaks. My goal was to catch up on some much needed sleep. But behind me a really obnoxious guy kept shouting out really stupid comments. I was completely blown away that this guy was not utterly embarrassed about what was coming out of his mouth. When I come in contact with people like this I like to give them looks to let them know that they should probably be embarrassed. So I turned around to do so and sitting next to the obnoxious guy was a pretty boy with a stupid grin on his face. It completely threw me off guard that I couldn't even give obnoxious guy the look and I turned back around. About 30 minutes later I hear vomit of the mouth again and turned around to get serious and stupid grin was looking at me again. This went on for about 3 more times. Finally we had a break.
I got up to go get fresh air and stupid grin stopped me. "I'm Vincent." I was completely confused because I didn't remember the instructor telling us that we had to introduce ourselves to those around us. "Okay, well, I'm Carmelle." I kept moving and he stopped me again. "No, I'm Vincent." This time I was pissed. "Yeah, well, I got that the first time, buddy." And he still had that stupid grin on his face. "I'm Vincent, Jeremy's friend. He told me you would be here. Didn't he mention me?" And then it finally clicked. "Oh, yeah, but he said you were supposed to be good looking." The stupid grin finally went away.
Well I can honestly say that I was not attracted to Vincent when I first met him. He was cocky and it poured out in everything he said. But at times he could be really nice so I continued to be cordial towards him since he was Jeremy's friend. We'd hang out occasionally because I'd hang out with Jeremy and he'd be invited. Every time we talked, we'd argue. It was like the guy had to prove his point no matter the situation. And of course I had to insult him while he did it.
After being truly friends for about 6 months, something happened. One day I looked at him and he was hot. I thought something was wrong with me. I actually went home and took my temperature because I'd heard of high temperatures messing with your vision. No temperature. So I started being nice to him and getting to know him more. The more I talked to him, the more I realized that he was kind of a pansy in reality. Which was good because I hate cocky. I guess being a football player and being in a fraternity you're expected to not cry during chick flicks. But I loved it. And after about 2 months of dating we both knew we were meant to be together.
Why did it take him another year to propose? A good question because it was one that came up several times before he actually did. Vincent was determined to buy me the biggest ring that he could and at the time had enough to buy one from a candy machine. So he was going to save until he had the money to do so. Well after getting grilled from me and my family and friends he finally learned how to put something on a credit card. And then he proposed, which is similar to us meeting, in that it fits perfectly with our personalities.

Our New Home.......Before

So we officially moved into our town home on August 21 of this year. Well, we didn't---I did because we weren't married yet. But during the entire summer, we would visit our town home often and eat lunch on top of the slab or whatever it was at the time. I took pictures a couple weeks before we closed and it's just amazing to see how quickly they finished building. It always amazed me how much progress they had made each time we visited because they worked on several homes at once so you would think it would take longer. I guess it's easier than it looks.

Lilly Mae

I am a full bred miniature Beagle. I was born on June 14th 2006. My breeder sent me to Petland in Lewisville where I lived for a few months. I was first adopted by a spoiled brat kid who kept me for a few days and then returned me when he found out I was a girl. Because of this I have a huge fear of abandonment---thanks, buddy. Well a few days later, my mommy and daddy came and got me. I am extremely spoiled living with them and I think it might be a little out of control. They take me everywhere and treat me like a baby human. But I will enjoy it until they really do have baby humans.
Currently I love sleeping in the sun and I love humans, every last one of them! I jump on people because I want them to give me every ounce of their attention. Apparently this is annoying because I get yelled at for doing it. But secretly I think humans love it!
If you see me feel free to rub my belly because I have no shame whatsoever! If you have a treat with you too, well, I'm yours forever.......

Carmelle

I was born a "Masdon" in Dallas, Texas on April, 21 1982. I am the oldest of 6 children with 2 sets of twins in the family. I went to high school at The Colony High School. I went to University of North Texas for 2 years and then transferred over to Centre College in Danville, Kentucky. I graduated in 2004 with a Bachelors degree in History.
Currently I am studying at University of Texas in Arlington for my MBA, where I hope to graduate sometime before I die.
I am working with my adorable husband at Cigna Leave Solutions. Right now I am a FML Claim Manager. I manage claims under the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993. Basically I make sure that people realize that their jobs are protected for a range of reasons that people don't realize are included under the law. I love my job and the people I work with. Luckily, Vincent and I don't work directly together so that we don't get on each other's nerves. But we do enjoy having lunch together and that we are able to reach each other easily. My brand new department allows for great opportunities for promotion and I hope to take advantage of this. Until then, I am just keep on truckin'.........

My First Blog!

So I've never had a blog before...I came across the idea from my friend and amazing photographer, Heather Lingafelter. She posted all my wedding pictures on a blog dedicated to her photography. Vincent and I were looking it over one day and we thought it was a great way to keep all of our friends and family updated on our happenings and vice versa.
So here I am......blogging away. I guess I should give some background of our small clan. More to follow.
