Happy Halloween!
Yeah, yeah.....I know. But next year at this time we will have a baby to dress up in funny costumes. As for now, we have dogs. I bought 2 different costumes for both Lilly and Bailey. But Bailey was being extremely difficult and Lilly wasn't so I made Lilly try on both costumes.......what a good dog! :)

Uh oh.....it has begun.
Last night Vincent and I decided to order a pizza. Well actually it was me more than him because it was the first time in about a week and a half that I didn't feel like I was going to throw up at any given moment. So I decided to make the most of it and stuff myself with yummy pizza. Since Vincent was busy with work stuff I decided I would try ordering the pizza online. I thought it would be fun and easy.I get to the site and see a coupon for Free Cinnasticks with my order.....YUMMY! I get that and then go look at the other coupons. I found one for buy 1 large pizza and get 1 medium for free. Perfect. I go through and order the pizzas, which took forever because Vincent kept deciding only after each time I had left the screen to get additional toppings. Literally, one topping at a time and he had like 8 on his pizza. His pizza sounded disgusting but who am I to judge? So I finally get to the checkout screen and realize that the Cinnasticks were not free because I had used the other coupon as well. You can only use 1 coupon and I chose free pizza coupon. So I delete the Cinnasticks coupon and it deletes my order. Arrgggg! So I go back, extremely frustrated now, and re-do the entire order, including Vincent's 8 toppings. But when it came to my pizza, I messed up.
I don't like pizza normally. My friends and family know this and my dad has even gone so far to call me "Un-American". That and I don't like hamburgers, hot dogs, and Chinese food. My dad is convinced that I'm not related. Regardless, I'm picky. I'm hoping this pregnancy helps with that but for now I'm picky. So my pizza can only be made 1 of 2 ways (excluding dessert pizza- I will eat that up anytime!). The first way- thin crust, pineapple, easy on the sauce. The second way- thin crust, pepperoni, jalapenos, easy on the sauce. If any of the ingredients are compromised or if the crust is not thin, I'm not eating it. Yeah, it's annoying but I can't help it.
So on the second time putting the order in I forgot to mark thin crust on my pizza. I place the order without double checking because by this time not only was I pissed but the baby was too. I eagerly watched my little pizza tracker and see it go from being prepared, to the oven, boxed, then in the car for delivery. The doorbell rings, Vincent goes out there to get it while I hold the dogs and in comes the most amazing aroma with the pizza. I take it to the kitchen, open my box, see the wrong crust, sit down on the floor and bawl my eyes out. I was crying so hard that I couldn't explain to Vincent what was wrong. He had to physically come over and figure out from the box what would've made me cry. After he figured it out, he grabbed the phone and called Domino's.
At this point I lethargically moved my crying body over to the couch, by crawling of course (obviously this shows how hurt I truly am). I hear Vincent say "Oh yes, I see online how we messed it. I apologize. No, we're not going to buy another one, we'll just eat this one. Thank you sir" and hang out. I lost it. I grabbed the phone, called again and proceeded to try and talk through tears. "Hi this is Carmelle Martinez and you just talked to my husband about the pizza that is wrong. I can't eat that pizza. Sure, I messed up the order online but the stupid Cinnasticks coupon deleted the first order that was correct and I was so hungry on the second one that I didn't double check. I will give you back this pizza because we haven't touched it but I can't possibly eat this pizza because it's not thin crust. Please let me trade it out. All I've been thinking about since I placed the order was thin crust pizza. Please don't destroy this dream or make me pay for it again." At this point the guy said "Ma'm, it's a little hard to understand you but if not getting thin crust makes a customer cry then I can't have that happen. Would you like us to deliver you the new pizza?" I told him that my husband would pick it up, thanked him and hung up.
Vincent went to go get the pizza and explained to the entire store that I was pregnant and that I had to eat what I was going to eat. Everyone in the store smiled and nodded and they even threw in a free bottle of Coke. (Thanks, Domino's!!)
You'd think that I would've been embarrassed of my behavior but at the time it happened it was fight or flight instincts. I have never felt so threatened about not having the right pizza. It felt like my life was going to get ruined and never be able to be normal again. So I guess that's what happens when the hormones are all out of wack. That or the baby feels as strongly as me about pizza :)

It all began 4 years ago....
So 4 years ago in October, Vincent and I met for the first time. It's incredible to think of then and then think of now--we're married, have 2 dogs together, a beautiful home, and now we're starting a family. Although the first time we met I don't think either of us would've thought there was even a tiny chance of any of this happening. Here's the story of us meeting for the first time.
Our Story
I had come home in the Fall from trying to extend my college years past graduation. That really didn't work out. Working and trying to pay rent are not as cool as living in a dorm where there is no rent and hanging out with my friends, avoiding class. So I came home but my parents expected me to have a job almost as soon as I got home. So I got a job as a bank teller. The job sucked. But I did meet an extremely funny guy, Jeremy. Jeremy and I got along great, just as friends. One day Jeremy tells me that one of his friends is going to start work there. He told me this guy thought he was extremely good-looking. That just irks me when guys think they're good-looking. I told Jeremy that those guys usually were gay. Well then Jeremy tells me that this guy, Vincent, is going to be at my new employee orientation that I hadn't gone to yet even though I had been at the job awhile.
Of course the day of the orientation I am running late. I am always running late. But this particular morning I could've cared less about running late because the orientation seemed so dumb to me. Well, while I was winding myself in and out of traffic, Vincent was at the orientation looking for the "cute blonde" that Jeremy told him about. Finally, about 30 mins late, I strolled in. I mumbled something about traffic and sat down. Right in front of Vincent. While I was taking my jacket off I glanced over to see this guy giving me a goofy grin. It totally startled me. My first thought was "weirdo". Well the orientation dragged on and on until finally they gave us a break. I got up to go to the bathroom when all of a sudden I got a tap on the shoulder. Vincent was standing there with that stupid grin on his face, and said "Hey, I'm Vincent." My mind tried to remember the last 45 seconds of the orientation, and if I could remember if the instructor told us to introduce ourselves. Nothing. I said "Ummm, I'm Carmelle. Were we supposed to introduce ourselves?" He laughed and said no. Then he said "I'm Jeremy's friend." Then it hit me. The guy who thought the world of himself. So I said "Oh, I didn't recognize you. I thought you were supposed to be good-looking." Vincent laughed and then said "Jeremy told me you were sassy." I shrugged and told him that I had to go to the restroom and excused myself. When I got back, he asked me for my number. "Well, you're even more presumptuous then Jeremy led me to believe. I'm not giving you my number. I'm not interested but thanks." Vincent grinned that stupid grin and said "No, we're supposed to meet up with Jeremy tonight to hang out so I wanted your number in case we got lost."
Vincent's claim to fame is that he got my number the first time he met me. That tricky little grin got me......

Meet Baby Martinez!
So we had our first ultrasound today to find out exactly how old Baby Martinez is.....and we're exactly right--6 weeks and 6 days! The baby right now is 8 mm. I tried to find images on the internet to show exactly how big it is. It's tiny. Here you go.....

The Expectant Father
So I've decided (on several people's advice) to blog on various events of my pregnancy. Right now, I'm only 6 1/2 weeks so you'd think there wasn't much to blog about......but oh my friend, there is. His name is Vincent and boy is he glad to be a father. There are no books to warn a pregnant woman how annoying an excited father-to-be can be. Don't get me wrong, it's adorable but really??? I'm 6 1/2 weeks. Do we really have to start baby proofing the house? Or is it necessary to help me walk up the stairs? I haven't even started showing yet! I know some of y'all reading think it's cute but think about having it 24/7. Everything that comes out of his mouth is "The book says (insert some ridiculous statement)..." Apparently the book said that when I get home from work, I need to rest. I got up to pee (which I do about 250 times a day now) and Vincent actually stopped me. For about 2 minutes he entertained the idea of a catheter until I threatened to remove the body part that got us into this mess to begin with. After getting "The Expectant Father" book, he's moved on and got the "Handbook of Obstetrics and Gynecology" because he 'wants to know exactly what the doctor would say not just some person who wrote a book'. I love the man and he will make a great father but until he's actually the person who's carrying the child, I don't think he should have a right to tell me what I can and can't eat. I mean really?? Who tells a pregnant woman who feels fat all the time but isn't exactly showing that the ice cream sandwich she's eating isn't good for her??? Why don't you just ask how much weight she's gained while you're at it......oh wait, he's done that too. It's going to be a nice long 8 months but as always with us, it'll definitely be interesting. :)

I Want This Dog....
So while waiting in the doctor's office for my doctor today, I was reading People and saw this article about this dog and went to the website. I seriously bawled my eyes out (reminder: I am pregnant). But I really do want to own this dog. Pause the music and check this dog out.
New Job
So I got a new job and haven't really explained it in detail......
I wasn't really looking for a new job but my friend, Lauren (L Dub!!), was interviewing for new jobs and had an interview at a place in Dallas. They offered her the job but she couldn't take it because it was too far away for her. So instead she called me telling me that I would be perfect for the job and I called the company and here we are today.
The company is called V Platinum Consulting. They are a medical staffing company that staffs technologists. They have doubled in size in the last year so they now have a need for Logistics and needed someone to head the department. Right now I'm a Logistics Coordinator but as my department grows, I will go on to hire people under me and then become Director of Logistics. I love this job because it was all about organizing and making forms/spreadsheets that no one here knew how to make. And they love that I'm making changes- even though all I'm doing is using all the ideas I've been working with from my last year of work! I'm OCD anyway and I make forms/spreadsheets for anything and everything so why not get recognition for making it! I decided to make a list of Pros & Cons for working here because I love lists!

* I literally work 4 minutes from my darling husband :)
* I'll be a Director.....finally my Master's is paying off
* I get to wear jeans and flip-flops to work (even though I try not to all the time because I want to dress up every now and then)
* V Platinum is a nice small company where everybody knows everybody...I love it!
* I don't have to clock in and out, I pretty much do whatever I want :)
* Pretty much everyone that works here has a sense of humor....can't beat that.
* There's a doggy day care down the street that I really, really want to put the dogs in....wouldn't that be cool???
* There's a deli in the building that is open all day......this actually could be a bad thing
Cons:
* The bathroom is on the other side of the building....this is no bueno for a pregnant lady
* Traffic on 635 is absolutely terrible
* It's cold in the office.....seriously. I have a sweater and a heating pad- it's that cold.
* The parking garage was designed very oddly and I always have to either get out of my car or hang out of my window in order to wave my badge in front of the scanner to get in and out of the garage

I'm a Mover & a Shaker and now..........................a BABY MAKER!
I'M PREGNANT!!
Really, I am pregnant- it's not a joke. Vincent and I definitely weren't trying, it just happened. But now that it's happened-we are SOOO excited! I wanted to wait until after my first doctor's appointment (since technically you're supposed to wait awhile, definitely at least until after the 1st doctor's appointment) but I'm too excited and my appointment is Friday which seems like forever away, so I'm sharing now.
When I found out I went out and bought a little onesie to tell Vincent with. He totally didn't get it and thanked me for buying our dogs a Cowboy jersey. He thought the pregnancy tests wrapped with the onesie were markers for writing on the jersey. Bless his heart.....
Although I haven't gone to the doctor I pretty much know how far along I am and it looks like I'm due in June. I put up the special countdown to the side that you don't see very often because the floating baby one gives me the creeps. I know I'm weird but I just don't want to see a floating baby on my blog......it's kinda gross. So I've chosen a new and original one. Plus it it gives you the exactly count on how old the baby is and how many days until I'm due.
I'm sorry if I haven't told some of you out there yet.....seriously I have never been this exhausted in my life. I have big dreams of coming home and calling people but instead I eat everything in my fridge and then fall asleep (I wish this was a joke). I love you all and I promise to call when I stop eating and sleeping more than I have ever done so in my entire life!!!
Here's the onesie used to announce the news:

A Waste.....
Since this is my last day at this job and I am starting an amazing job on Monday (I will explain in a future blog), I want to take a moment and vent about something that bothers me at this job.....
Have you ever met someone, girl or guy, and they were absolutely beautiful and then they open their mouth and they are terrible human beings? Well, I work with a few of those girls right now. One in particular is a beautiful girl; I'm talking model-like beauty and she's just so terrible. She makes fun of anyone and everyone that she talks to. She thinks she's better than everyone. She makes an effort to point out to other girls when they're wearing something "not cool". She interrupts conversations because she has something to say and talks about herself non-stop. To me, it's not fair that a girl that has a personality like that gets to look like that on the outside.
Don't they realize how awesome it is when a person looks gorgeous and has a super amazing personality? Why does anyone think it's attractive to be snobby and judgmental? Maybe it just takes growing up and realizing it. Or maybe they were trained like that by their mothers. Who knows? Wouldn't it be cool if you were given looks based on your personality? In my opinion, pretty people with ugly personalities are a waste of human space……I’m just saying.
