It all began 4 years ago....

So 4 years ago in October, Vincent and I met for the first time. It's incredible to think of then and then think of now--we're married, have 2 dogs together, a beautiful home, and now we're starting a family. Although the first time we met I don't think either of us would've thought there was even a tiny chance of any of this happening. Here's the story of us meeting for the first time.

Our Story

I had come home in the Fall from trying to extend my college years past graduation. That really didn't work out. Working and trying to pay rent are not as cool as living in a dorm where there is no rent and hanging out with my friends, avoiding class. So I came home but my parents expected me to have a job almost as soon as I got home. So I got a job as a bank teller. The job sucked. But I did meet an extremely funny guy, Jeremy. Jeremy and I got along great, just as friends. One day Jeremy tells me that one of his friends is going to start work there. He told me this guy thought he was extremely good-looking. That just irks me when guys think they're good-looking. I told Jeremy that those guys usually were gay. Well then Jeremy tells me that this guy, Vincent, is going to be at my new employee orientation that I hadn't gone to yet even though I had been at the job awhile.

Of course the day of the orientation I am running late. I am always running late. But this particular morning I could've cared less about running late because the orientation seemed so dumb to me. Well, while I was winding myself in and out of traffic, Vincent was at the orientation looking for the "cute blonde" that Jeremy told him about. Finally, about 30 mins late, I strolled in. I mumbled something about traffic and sat down. Right in front of Vincent. While I was taking my jacket off I glanced over to see this guy giving me a goofy grin. It totally startled me. My first thought was "weirdo". Well the orientation dragged on and on until finally they gave us a break. I got up to go to the bathroom when all of a sudden I got a tap on the shoulder. Vincent was standing there with that stupid grin on his face, and said "Hey, I'm Vincent." My mind tried to remember the last 45 seconds of the orientation, and if I could remember if the instructor told us to introduce ourselves. Nothing. I said "Ummm, I'm Carmelle. Were we supposed to introduce ourselves?" He laughed and said no. Then he said "I'm Jeremy's friend." Then it hit me. The guy who thought the world of himself. So I said "Oh, I didn't recognize you. I thought you were supposed to be good-looking." Vincent laughed and then said "Jeremy told me you were sassy." I shrugged and told him that I had to go to the restroom and excused myself. When I got back, he asked me for my number. "Well, you're even more presumptuous then Jeremy led me to believe. I'm not giving you my number. I'm not interested but thanks." Vincent grinned that stupid grin and said "No, we're supposed to meet up with Jeremy tonight to hang out so I wanted your number in case we got lost."

Vincent's claim to fame is that he got my number the first time he met me. That tricky little grin got me......
