Bailey Anne Martinez

Yay! We got a puppy on Saturday! We went to a breeder in Collinsville, Texas (about an hour and a half away). We spent awhile with all the puppies. Vincent and I decided we would pick one out without telling each other and then discuss after awhile. Well, we ended up picking the same one! She is 6 weeks old and precious.

But she has definitely reminded us (and by us, I mean Vincent) that we are not yet unselfish enough to have a baby. Puppies can be hard because they pee and poop everywhere and I do mean EVERYWHERE. We crate her and every morning and night we have to not only clean her crate but give her a bath. It's yucky.

But she has a great personality and is extremely feisty. Lilly does not like her right now and we have caught Lilly on several occasions trying to smother Bailey.But Bailey does not care that Lilly hates her. Bailey tries everything to get Lilly to play with her. Lilly has tossed Bailey across the room a few times and Bailey just gets up and shakes it off and tries again. The breeder told us they would grow to love each other. Hopefully it will be soon because we can't leave them alone together. That's tough to remember. I mean, even going to the restroom is tough because if Bailey can't find one of us she starts whining very loudly. I am strongly aware that it's nothing compared to a child but I already can't handle it......

It's not that Vincent and I don't want to have a child right now, it's just that we really enjoy hanging out with one another. I mean, he really is my best friend. We love just hanging out, watching TV, making each other laugh, and having a drink or two. Even now with just a puppy it's put a little strain on that time. Vincent wants me to watch the puppy's bottom and make sure it doesn't look like she's going to go the bathroom (is that even possible??). And then on top of that, he wants me to take her out every 5 minutes to prevent any carpet soiling. I can't even hold her without him watching me hold her. I could scream....
I know in a few weeks Bailey will be TONS better and Vincent and I will be back to being best buddies again. Until then, we'll be cleaning lots of poo and pee and taking lots of pictures.....I can't argue that she is absolutely adorable though!
