Driving me crazy

At what point did basic respect for other drivers just go away completely? I know that there used to be a little courtesy on the road but when did it go away altogether??

A perfect example happened to me a few nights ago on my way to class. I get to campus and begin the long wait to finding a parking spot. The parking lot I always park in is huge and therefore there is a greater chance of finding a spot more quickly than in other lots. The thing about this lot, though, is that the lanes are narrow and 1 way on each row (see diagram). Even though we are going to college there and assumed that we should know as well, the school has kindly put arrows on the concrete to guide us the direction that the cars must go in so as to go down the correct row to park. These arrows are just in case you're not observant enough to look at the particular direction the cars in that lane are facing to guide as to whether or not to go down that row. I am being extremely sarcastic because this is not the only place that they use this kind of system......grocery stores, workplaces, and even malls all take part in this type of parking. So every driver out there should get practice on the way these parking lots work.

So back to my story. I found a spot almost immediately after I pulled into the parking lot but it was the "stalker spot". That is, I saw the guy walking up from about 25 feet away and hit his clicker and the lights on the car went off and I had enough time to stop and wait. As I stopped to wait, I see ahead of me, going in the completely wrong direction and quite fast, a car coming towards me. Now my first instinct was to back up and make room for this poor idiot driver. Even though they are stupid, no one's perfect so why not help a brother out, right?? Before I could even put my car in reverse this ho bag goes full speed ahead towards my car and then when she reaches my car and can't get past.....she HONKS.....at me. Not a little honk but she laid her hand down on the horn and left it there for about 30 seconds. I'm sorry, did I drive down the wrong lane even after seeing the direction of the cars and the helpful arrows??? No ma'am. You're a moron and now you will suffer for it.

So the ho bag keeps honking and I look at her and shrug and shake my head. This really pisses her off. She gets out of her car and proceeds to point out the direction that she wants me to move in. I roll down my window, just a tiny bit, and say "not my problem." I know that everyone who knows me knows this is something that I would definitely do but to be honest, I think I'm growing up or the baby is making me think things out more. I figured that saying something like this would bring retaliation so I prepared a back-up plan. I grabbed my cell phone and sure enough she runs over to my window. At this point, I roll my window up and now she's screaming at me to back up. I then point to the phone and punch in "911" and show her. This immediately calms her down and she gets back into her car. Then as a final statement she screams "bitch" and backs up to correct her mistake.

I know I probably wasn't helping the situation out with my attitude but how in the world does one think they have the right to do what they want when they screwed up?? Shouldn't they be taking responsibility for their actions?? I know I'm not the perfect driver without road rage but I at least like to show a little bit of courtesy when I know I screw up. Sometimes I think there should be police out there that give you tickets for not showing respect for other drivers. Can you imagine how different the roads would be knowing someone was watching them for road rage??
