Puppy Love!

For all those out there thinking about getting a puppy and have no idea how much work they take or even if you do know how much work they take- please, please, please get this book! I researched, before we got Bailey, for a book to help me out. I could find no book that taught about training puppies under 4 months old. And since most people get puppies at about 8 weeks, that's a HUGE gap of time with no training. This book has been my lifesaver with housebreaking--seriously, it worked perfectly (and by perfectly, I mean as perfect as a Beagle can be since they are difficult to train).

This book is a little dated, like late 90s, but works nonetheless. A puppy can be overwhelming but this book makes it 100% better, no joke!!! Your puppy will be happier because you'll be happier!! Check it out!!

To All Non-Bloggers Out There:

So this blog is dedicated to everyone that reads but never comments or creates their own blog......our invisible readers, if you will. But they aren't invisible, at least not to me. Some of you have approached me at recent parties, or e-mailed me, or come over to see the new dog/house and have told Vincent and I how much you LOVE our blog. I always give the same response "Please start your own blog or at least comment so I know you're out there." And what is the result? Nothing. So not to name names but your names start with M (quite a few of these), N, P, B, C, F, and J (quite a few of these too)--you need to start your own blog and join the wonderful world! That's a lot of pressure to put on someone to have them writing all the blogs while you read them and complain when one hasn't been written in awhile... :) Plus, it's an easy way to keep everyone updated without sending out mass e-mails.

So take this blog to heart and try starting up your own......I promise you it's fun. And, it's really not as hard as it looks. Plus I need more people's blogs to read since I've started school and am always there (feels like anyway) and have no time to write blogs of my own.....I heart all of y'all!!!

The Tall Tales that Vincent Spins....

I should start a newspaper column on all the weird and wacky things Vincent says to me. Most all of them he makes up completely but a few of them come from a small fabric of truth and he just creates what he wants from it after that. I will share this one because it was especially random.
On Saturday I wake up to see my husband staring at me from his pillow. I quickly shut my eyes for fear of what would follow. Then I hear "I want to be a Mason". All that flashed in my mind were the glass mugs that I sometimes drink from. I decided to let him go ahead with this thought since I had no idea where it came from. "What are you talking about?" He then proceeds to tell me that Masons are a secret society that meet underground, have blood covenants, have secret meetings that no one has any idea what they do or say in or even where they meet, and that special invitations to become a Mason are given out once a year to 1 person. While he was talking I suddenly remembered about Masons. "Aren't they a fraternity?" He immediately got defensive and said that they certainly were not and that it was so secret that you could be in a room full of them and not have a clue but that they would know who the others were from little signals that went on. That's when I dared to ask "How do you know?" In a matter of fact voice he said "I had a dream about it." I decided as a back up method to his dream (even though it's completely reliable), we should look up information on Masons. We grabbed his Blackberry and looked it up. Here's what we found:

  • A Mason is a member of a fraternity known as Masonry. (so it is a fraternity)

  • The word “lodge” means both a group of Masons meeting in some place and the room or building in which they meet. Masonic buildings are clearly marked, and are usually listed in the phone book. (so much for meeting underground and wondering where they meet)

  • Lodge activities are not secret picnics and other events are even listed in the newspapers, especially in smaller towns. Many lodges have answering machines which give the upcoming lodge activities. (so much for not knowing what Masons do)

  • When a man decides he wants to be a Mason, he asks a Mason for a petition or application. He fills it out and gives it to the Mason, and that Mason takes it to the local lodge. (that does sound like 1 invitation per year...)

  • Masons certainly don’t make a secret of the fact that they are members of the fraternity. (hmmmm, maybe the secret signal is a sign they wear that says "Mason")

We couldn't find anything about blood covenants so Vincent claims that one is the only actual truth he said. And of course when I prove him wrong he just giggles and says that he "might've" made some things up........gotta love it--keeps life interesting!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY VINCENT!

In honor of my wonderful husband's big 2-8 (or big 2-6 as he's telling everyone) I went through our slideshow pics from our wedding and I want to post some of them up (man is he sexy or what???).
And if you want to shoot him a Happy Birthday e-mail send one to his work e-mail (he'll love it, trust me!): vincent.martinez@cigna.com
This is one of the scariest baby pictures I have ever seen....I hope our kids do better :)

Looking much better and cute in his little football uniform

Vincent and his cousin, Jenn

Some might say Vincent looks gay in this photo......

I love, love, love this pic because I can almost hear Vincent's dad talking to Vincent "Now, Son, don't forget....."

Vincent and the "gang" in high school. Could Vincent look anymore like a thug?? Cool choker!!

My Baylor Graduate!

This is my favorite picture of Vincent because I love when Vincent laughs. He has the most adorable giggle (yeah, doesn't sound very manly but it's great and very contagious)!

V keeping it real on a 4 wheeler

Why does he not have his uniform on but everyone else does? Sitting on the bench, maybe?? :)

Man I don't know what's an older fad- the big baseball shirt with NY on it or the Nautica bag sitting next to him....

And finally, one of the only pictures of I have him when he grew out his chin hair....I personally was a fan!

What Parents REALLY Think About Hannah Montana.....

I received this e-mail from my friend Monique this morning and I couldn't stop laughing....for all those out there trying to understand the whole Hannah Montana craze, here's 1 woman's opinion about her daughter, Gabby's, experience with Billy Ray Cyrus' daughter at the movie theater:

Well I have officially entered into the world of God Forsaken Hannah Montana. This weekend Gabby and her best friend Arriana decided they wanted me and her mom to take them to go see the movie on opening night! First let me say the movie was not really a movie it was her concert in 3D nonetheless….Anyways, we went to buy the tickets for the movie on the morning of and we originally wanted the 10:30 showing. They only had the 9:45 showing available so we took them. Tickets were $15.00 a piece!!!!! ("I was thinking we were going to get a live concert for that price!")
Well we arrive at the theater two hours ahead of time which is what the guy told us to do when we bought the tickets and it was packed!!!!!! There were hundreds of little mini 22 year old with bad blond wigs on. I though I was at a Dolly Parton drag show or something. Finally it came down to the time where we could actually go in the theater and that is when the riots started. Parents were pushing and running over one another…Two dads almost got in a fight over a row of seats. Girls were screaming and chanting…"Hannah Hannah Hannah". ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS!!!!!
The movie starts and I slowly sink into my chair and start furiously shoving fistfuls of popcorn into my mouth to cope with the pain of having to endure an hour and 45 minutes of pure hell. Here was a little girl who from birth was being groomed for a life of glamorized slavery. The fact that she had to change into someone else, (Miley Cyrus) halfway through the show was proof that she was probably dealing with some serious mental issues. Well half way through this ridiculous concert I look over at my daughter and her friend and they were both dancing like two strippers. Let me remind you that they are both 6 years old. What has this world come to??!!!!!
Anyways, a bag of popcorn, a tray of nachos, some red vines and one diet coke with rum later, (Did I mention that Denise & I packed a little flask of fun to get us through this night????) The movie was finally over and I have to say it sucked and I much rather would have been getting a colonoscopy than sitting in that god forsaken theater with all those miserable children and their idiotic parental figures. Most people cheered and screamed with excitement throughout the movie…I was the only one in a standing ovation when it finally ended.
Let me just say one last thing….It is this kind of thing that makes people bring AK-47'S to public events and gun down an entire population.

Note to self: Call the white house and let them know I have an idea on how to bring Bin Laden to his knees.....
