So now the final chapter to our union--our wonderful honeymoon. We took a 4 week honeymoon and had nothing planned (unlike the wedding) and loved every minute of it!
First we went to my grandparent's house in Peachtree City, Georgia (just south of Atlanta) because my grandparents weren't able to make it to my wedding. On the way there we had to stop and camp at a state park in Louisiana and it was miserable. Well, miserable for Vincent, not me. It was hot, sticky and Louisiana has a lot of marshes so that means a lot of mosquitoes. We got to the campsite and it was dark so putting up the tents was extremely hard. That got our night off to a wonderful start. Then while we were trying to eat our food a raccoon kept trying to get it from us. And I don't mean sneaking up from behind. This brave fellow came head on and was not scared at all. He managed to crawl under the tent and that's when I grabbed a stick and threw it at him. But he must deal with a lot of humans that are all talk because he kept coming back and all that would chase him away were rocks and sticks. So we were eating with sticks in our hands. Then I proceeded to drink a lot of wine and fall right asleep. Meanwhile, Vincent couldn't sleep at all because of the heat, mosquitoes, and fear of animals entering the tent. Needless to say, we got up early and left.
Next we went to Georgia where we stayed with my lovely grandparents and had a blast. They sure spoil me. But while we were there we went to the Georgia Aquarium that my dad really talked up because my family went the last time they were in Georgia. That aquarium was awesome!! I touched a sting ray (which I will never do again...can anyone say the crocodile man???) and my adorable husband took way too many pictures and videos. I will try to post the videos but I don't know if it will work......
After a few days in Georgia, we drove up to New Jersey. Since I have a problem with both road rage and slow & cautious driving, Vincent refused to let me drive at all. I mean, I'm not complaining but I did feel bad for him.
We stayed 5 miles north of Atlantic City called Brigantine Beach in a beautiful beach home that belongs to my mother-in-law's fiance. Seriously it was 1 block from the beach and huge. I did absolutely nothing except watch a lot of Dr. Phil, drink wine, and sit on the beach and read. We went to Atlantic City and gambled a couple of times. I did really well one time and terrible another time so I call it quits after that. But mainly we walked up and down the boardwalk to get some exercise and people watch. We also drove to a city that is south of Atlantic City called Cape May where there is fun shopping and eating. The entire time we were there it was sunny and about 70-75 degrees. I couldn't have asked for a better honeymoon.
We had a few trips planned (to NYC and Canada) but we had to come home early due to a terribly selfish person (who will remain nameless). I don't want to go into details but let's just say we were helping her out and she took advantage of us. Oh well, we learned a very valuable lesson about helping people....be careful who you help!!
But even with leaving early the honeymoon was relaxing and perfect! Thanks so much to John and Linda for letting us stay in that house and my grandparents for having us!!! We had a great time!!
