Jury Duty

I have never been called for jury duty. And although a lot of people moan and groan about getting called, I have always wanted to go. I always wanted to see our justice system in action, even though I don't always agree with it.

Well Vincent got called for jury duty for Monday. He gets called every year. He's convinced that they try to call as many minorities as possible and he's sure that now that we share the same last name, I'll get called every year (I'll keep you posted). But Vincent did NOT want to have jury duty. For the main reason of falling behind at work and also because he didn't want to do it since he does it every year.

So I decided to help him not get picked since Everett, a lawyer on the Russ Martin show, gave tips for not being picked as a juror. I told Vincent to dress as grungy as possible, i.e. Marilyn Manson shirt. I was in my bathroom getting ready and he comes in to show me his "grungy" wear. It's a wrinkled, plain t-shirt and jeans with holes in it.....My poor husband doesn't even know what grungy is or maybe his desire to look good all the time kept him from dressing bad. I don't know but he needed help. I went through his t-shirts and the best I could find was a free t-shirt from PetSmart with kittens on it. It would be cute on a 5 year old but creepy on a 28 year old man. We went with that. I instructed him to act as creepy as possible, maybe even "petting" the kitties on his shirt while they talked to him.

Later on, I received this text: I pet the kitty on my shirt while they talked to me. Then they picked me to be a juror for not just today but for the next week. Then the bailiff asked me, in front of everyone, if the kitties on my shirt belonged to me in real life since I appeared attached to them while I was getting interviewed. Great. This is going to be a long week.

I know I shouldn't laugh at my poor husband but it's just so funny. That would only happen to him. Love you, babe!
