Vincent's friend, and one that I had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know, Ladytrica, passed away on September 1, 2008.
He was in a 1 car accident and survived. Then he got out of his car to get help across the highway and was victim of a hit and run. Seriously, I don't know how a person hits a human and keeps driving....I hope they live with that the rest of their life and are tormented constantly.
But Ladytrica's name is pronounced La-dye-trice but looks like Lady Trica. My first memory of him is before Vincent and I were married. Vincent was at my apartment, visiting, and had fallen asleep on the couch. His phone rang and I went to go get it and see who it was. I saw "Lady Trica" and panic went through my body. I was like "Hell, no, Vincent is not cheating on me with some girl that actually goes by 'Lady Trica'." The rest of the day I was pissed trying to figure out why Vincent would cheat on me and I was rude to him because I couldn't figure out how to approach him about it. A few hours went by and the phone rang again- Lady Trica. I hand the phone to Vincent, who was awake at this time, with a smirk on my face, ready to confront. Vincent then says "La-dye-trice is calling-I bet it's about the basketball game." It hits me then that pronunciation was my downfall. After listening to the male voice on the other end of the phone talking to Vincent, I realize my mistake. Weeks later, Ladytrica threw a fish fry where I finally got to meet him. I told him of my pronunciation mistake and he just laughed, rubbed his belly, and said "Yeah, it's La-dye-trice. Don't worry, Vincent and I are just friends- nothing more yet."
The funeral was yesterday and there were hundreds of people there. Vincent and I realized how many people had the pleasure of having Ladytrica in their lives. And, at the funeral, someone even mentioned the pronunciation and how it got them in trouble. :)
Today, during the Cowboys game that we were supposed to watch with Ladytrica and the love of his life, Sam, we realized something. Ladytrica is probably in Heaven watching it right now and rubbing his belly for good luck.
Ladytrica was a great guy and was even kind of deceptive. He gave off the impression when you first saw him that he might not be easy to approach. Totally wrong. Ladytrica was one of the nicest people that I have ever met and had the best smile I have ever seen. I wish that I had more pictures than the one that I have to show what a contagious smile he had. Vincent and I feel truly blessed that we were able to meet and share great memories with such an extraordinary human being.
Sam, feel blessed that so many people loved Ladytrica and had so many memories of his smile and his amazing personality. Rest assured, Vincent and I believe that he is in Heaven watching sports and maybe even playing basketball (but being good at it this time). :)
Rest in peace, Ladytrica Lane. You will be missed!
If anyone who stumbles on this post knew him, please comment and post your memories of him as well. We would love to hear them!

LaDytrica "T-Man" Lane. I google his name looking for his myspace page and came across your blog. He was/is good friend, real good dude. I miss him a lot & still can't belived he's gone. It's been really rough for me over the past 7 months. I was suposoed to go out with him that night he passed, but I stayed home. That's haunts me everyday, becasue I can't stop thinking abouthat night I spoke with him only to never here his voice again (I can still hear it though). I love him & Sam both. Our relationship got closer & closer over the years. Sam is a good loving women & I really wish they were here together. It's just sad that he had to leave so soon. There was a lot he wanted to accomplish, but unfortunately he didn't get a chance to. I pray for the family, his children, & Sam all the time. I still talk to Sam pretty regularly & she's doing well. Everyday is a struggle, but she's pushing along well. This was very nice what you did for him & I salute you guys for doing this. May God bless you and your family & I hope you guys miss him as much as I do! Brandon "Big B" Laws
Oh...I forgot to leave my memory. Of course you guys knew he loved basketball. Well that's how I met him through mutal friends that we have. Well I'm a big guy and the stero type is that big guys can't play. I would consider myself to somewhat athletic. I can handle the ball, rebound, and shoot the ball. People always joked that he couldn't really play, but he was okay to me. When we played pickup ball we won a lot more games than we lost. One of the first times we actually played together was when we used to play at Kidd Springs Gym. Well everyone picked there teamates & I was one of the last to get picked. He was looking like we were going to lose and felt the teams were unfair, but we stayed with the same teams. I told him not to worry. Well the game started and the other team jumped out on us pretty early. I remember us getting the rebound & someone passing it to me on a fastbreak. it was me & another guy and the other guys thought he was going to block my shot. Well T-Man was folowing me, I guess because he felt the guy was going to block my shot as well. As I went up fo rthe layup and the guy jumped to block my shot i saw T-Man behind me & i passed the ball behind my back & he caught it & layed the ball up for the score. He looked at me as we ran back down the court & he good pass. Long story short, if I recall, we came back to whe the game & the next three to four that night. After we were done he came up to me & said I didn't know you could play like that. I said I know everybody thinks because I'm a big guy that I can't play, so I just prove them wrong everytime I step on the court. From there on out a lot of pick up games we played, if he had a chance to pick, he would pick me first. I would joke with him & call him my point guard from timie to time! Jokingly he would always call me his "Lil Bro" playing on my size & I would call him "Big Bro"! Lol...
You know how much I'm missing you T-Meezy...you sho nuff off da Heezy! I love you dawg!!!
