Splish Splash

We definitely have had an extremely busy week. I started work last Thursday but Tristan started at the new babysitter this last Monday. She is the best!! She lives super close to us and is only watching Tristan- no other kids. And she used to be a nurse which came in handy this week because Tristan got thrush. Thrush is basically a yeast infection in the mouth and makes it really hard for him to eat because it hurts every time he does. But luckily she caught it right away and so it never really got that bad. Thank goodness. Poor baby :(

Then it was my dad's birthday on Wednesday. We went to Truluck's last night and it was soooo YUMMY!! I love that place. Not quite the Reata in Fort Worth but still delicious nonetheless!! Tristan was being a little fussy but more than likely because he wasn't feeling well and he didn't get a lot of sleep during the day. But we had a great time and enjoyed some even better food! Happy Birthday, Paw Paw!!

On Friday we had Ryan, Katie, and Michael over. It's the first time we had our friends over to hang out with Tristan. Tristan did great, even though he was sick. He made a bunch of funny faces for them and we all got a kick out of it. We were talking about how we were laughing at him and how silly he looked and how our parents more than likely did the same thing to us. We probably looked just as goofy and our parents and their friends just used us as entertainment :) But Vincent made AMAZING ribs and hamburgers with corn on the cob.....I ate soooo much and enjoyed every minute of it. Then, the homemade ice cream that Ryan and Katie made really made me feel guilty but totally worth it. Thanks guys for coming over and kicking it at the Martinez house!!

Yesterday was especially tough for our little man. Vincent's uncle passed away on Tuesday and the funeral was yesterday. Tristan did absolutely terrible and with good reason, since he was sick. He started crying during the service and wouldn't stop. I had to change his diaper in the foyer of the church, the only place I could. I was changing him on the changing pad on a table that had brochures and bible verses in frames on it. While I was changing it, he started pooping again. Then, I started running out of wipes. So I did what I could with the wipes that I had and put a new diaper on him. Well, I look over and the wipes that I used, which had poop all over it, were touching the table and kinda getting poop on it. I go to grab what I think is the last wipe only to find out that there are no more wipes. Yikes! So I try to wipe up the stuff with the parts of the wipes that aren't used and get most of it up. Then, everyone starts pouring out of the church and at this point I'm panicky because I don't want people to judge. So I grab the diaper and nasty wipes in one hand and Tristan in the other. It stinks terribly bad and people are looking at me with dirty looks, which I can't blame. And guess what? No trash can or rest room or anywhere that I can put the stinky diaper. So I'm standing there watching the casket go by and making the foyer stink like nobody's business. Oh well, it happens. Then we went to the cemetery and Tristan starts to sweat in his car seat. Seriously, they need to come up with a way to air out the back of the car seat, if need be, because the little guy gets SOOO hot sitting in it. As soon as he starts to sweat in the nasty humidity we were having yesterday, he screams bloody murder. Then I have to drag him about 1/2 mile back to the car while he was screaming with everyone looking. He does not like to sweat at all. He gets that from his dad. Then we went back to the church for food. That's where everyone got some Tristan love. Seriously, everyone wanted to hold him and love on him. Of course, he was eating it up. And we have babysitters lined up for the next 2 months!! :) But the bad thing was that he made himself stay awake the whole time and didn't sleep. So he was super cranky for dinner and Paw-Paw and Yaw-Yaw took turns soothing him. He definitely doesn't lack for attention :)

And this morning Vincent and I gave him a bath and made a video. He loves baths and although he didn't get into as much as he normally does in this video, he did smile!! He really is growing up so fast :( But the smile at the end of the video will make anyone smile, even if he is growing up!!!
