My Old Kentucky Home

This past weekend I went to visit my bff, Morgan and her husband, Jake in Louisville, Kentucky. Vincent couldn't come because of work so that kind sucked. But it was the BEST time ever! I seriously had a great time. I really needed to get out of my house and I definitely needed to see Morgs! The flight out there was really rough because it was delayed 3 hours and then the actual flight was constant turbulence. I hate flying and it was really tough to fly without some sort of medication to calm me down. On top of that, the baby was going crazy. I mean, if my ears are popping just imagine what his felt like......

On Saturday Morgan threw me a low-key baby shower and I had a great time. Although I couldn't drink with the rest of my guests, I still enjoyed the games we played! Watching the guys chug beer out of a baby bottle was the best :) But best of all was seeing all the girls- Bethany, Mitchell, Amanda, Hill, and even Stoess!! (and yes, I will continue to call these ladies by their last name even though they're married now--sorry but I can't call them anything else) Thanks everyone for coming and for all the great gifts--it rocked my world!

I also want to mention what a trooper Jake was for putting up with my cravings for the ravioli at Martini's Restaurant. I had to eat it as much as possible and he was very understanding for letting me eat it 2 nights in a row!! Thanks Jake!!

I can't wait till Jake and Morgs can come down and visit but it may not be for awhile...... I guess that means we'll have to go up there and visit them with our new baby instead!! :) Can't wait!! Love you guys!!!

Cuteness!

This past weekend we hung out with Vincent's dad and step-mom, Lisa. Lisa celebrated 30 years at AT&T-yay!!! We went to the Spaghetti Warehouse to celebrate with the family, including Lisa's adorable granddaughter, Mia. Seriously, cutest 11-month old ever!!

Don't you just want to pinch those chubby little cheeks???

LOVING the glitter phone!

Another cutie is the dog we're babysitting- Oscar. Vincent's dad and Lisa just got him last week but had a vacation planned so we are watching him for the week. And man-oh-man, he is full of energy!! Bailey used to drive Lilly insane with all her energy but now Oscar is driving Bailey crazy. Our dogs really love having Oscar to play with though. They wear themselves out because they chase each other around non-stop from the minute we get home to the time they go to bed. For being so small, Oscar sure can push my girls around!! :)

A rare moment.....Oscar being still :)

Bailey's tongue has been hanging out of her mouth non-stop since Oscar got here!

What the F?

Normally our energy bill is about $175. The highest it has ever been in the 2 years we have been here is $220. This last bill that we got was $513. Yeah, that's right. And guess what?? We were out of town for 1 week during that month. So how can this bill be so high, you ask?? Well, for starters, because we have to bend over and take it from the electricity company. Vincent called them and told them that he wanted to have the meter checked out, just in case something was wrong with it. The tard on the phone proceeded to tell Vincent that nothing is wrong with the meter and that we probably just left something on that wasn't supposed to be on. Aw, gee, thanks tard- that's really helpful. Vincent hates stupid people even more than I do so he went into a long conversation and asked her all sorts of questions to prove she was a moron. Personally, I would've just hung up.

So then we decide to call our AC company to have our unit checked out because really the question surrounding that thing is "When is it NOT broke??" We're fairly certain it has something to do with it seeing as the last time something was wrong with it, the repair guy screwed up and turned on the fan in the attic (what was he doing up there???) and we had absolutely no way to turn it off except by becoming AC techs ourselves and going up to the attic to clean up after this guy's mistake. Obviously, that didn't happen. So for almost 2 months the fan was on 24/7 because we couldn't get anyone out here to fix it. And this is because the company that built our house- Pulte- insists on making all of our service requests for us (because obviously we're not paying) so they took their sweet time doing it since it's not their fan running 24/7.

So, with this situation, it's obvious that it's more than likely the fan that caused the bill to go up, right?? Not according to Pulte. They don't want to call the AC company to come over and check out the unit to make sure it's nothing else besides the fan because, accordingly to our customer service rep "Wait, I don't understand, it doesn't sound like you can be sure it's the AC unit. So nothing's wrong with the AC right now, is that what I'm hearing? I can only send the AC company out there if there's something wrong with the AC unit right now." I have had to tell this particular moron in 5 different phone calls that we need it checked out in order to rule it out. I finally told him that if my baby goes into distress, I will make sure that Pulte pays for it.

So now we're having to educate ourselves on this problem. The energy company said it looks like we're going to have another high bill on the next one so we've decided we can't just assume it's the AC unit. I did all this research on the internet and found out how to tell what's sucking the life out of our energy. We turn off all the breakers and then look at our meter, then one by one, turn the breakers back on. Whatever sends our meter spinning fast is the culprit.

So anyone out there have any advice?? Anyone had to deal with a situation like this?? What happened? I'm just so scared that we're not going to figure out what's going on and continue to have $500+ energy bills forever, forever, ever, forever, ever ever.......I only wish there was a cool reason for it, like we threw an amazing party that lasted an entire week. But it might get awkward if I posted this blog and you weren't invited.....yikes.

Anyway, other than that, we have nothing else going on. I have class twice a week and work has been great working with my hubby :) Actually we don't hardly talk to each other (that would be lame) even though we sit a few rows apart right now. My back is still hurting but I think I'm adjusting to the pain. Oh and KY2k9 is almost here!! I leave for Morgs and Jake's exactly 2 weeks from today!! Wooohooo!! Oh and I'm teaching the dogs to dance to Eminem's new song (he is a lyrical genius, right??? the dogs just love him!!) Other than that, we just keep on, keepin' on............

My dog, the fake

Can a dog fake an injury for attention? That's what we think our dog Bailey is doing. She developed a limp that only appears when she thinks we're looking at her. Then when she is playing with Lilly, amazingly enough, the limp is gone.
Yesterday we were outside when the neighbors came out. Bailey was fine but all of a sudden she pulls her "hurt" paw in the air and starts limping around. Our neighbor was like "Your poor dog, what happened to her?" After the neighbor said that, Bailey limped over to her and our neighbor proceeded to pet her. I couldn't believe it.
Then when we went inside Bailey started annoying Lilly, like she always does. Well, Lilly decided to whoop her butt right away to get her to stop. Well, Bailey was losing but still trying to fight when all of a sudden she limped away from the fight. I felt bad so I yelled at Lilly and then out of the corner of my eye I saw Bailey walking away triumphantly.....on all 4 legs--just fine! Unbelievable.
So I guess dogs can crave attention just like humans. Who would've thought???

Bailey's "hurt" paw in the air, next to Vincent-- looking for attention and a belly rub. It took forever to get this picture because everytime I took out the camera, she would put her paw down---almost like she knew she was getting caught at faking it........

Comic Relief

Vincent and I got a video tonight that made my entire night, plus some. It actually distracted me from the back pain and that takes a lot. It is one of my favorite comedians, Louis CK doing stand-up. I went to YouTube and found this clip from the video, Chewed Up. It was hilarious. If you ever get bored just look up Louis CK's videos on YouTube--seriously funny. Anyway, I thought I'd share a little of my happiness and pass on the video. It's awesome!!
